The trip of a lifetime!

Welcome to our blog!!   Thanks for playing along at home and following us as we journey to east coast USA and Las Vegas.

This holiday is for David's 60th birthday and for me as well as we do some of those things that we won't probably do again and can tick off our "bucket list".

So lets bring you up to speed on whats happened so far.    Of course one of those items on the list is for David to see his beloved Boston Red Sox play against the NY Yankees at Fenway Park (which is Boston's home ground).   Sounds easy doesn't it, but to those out there its like trying to get tickets to see Collingwood V Essendon on Anzac Day!  You see the Red Sox won the World Series in 2013, and in the words of the Red Sox person that David telephoned, "Its the hottest game in town".   Anyway, thanks to one of my tennis buddies - Kathy Quick, she suggested we try this site called "Stub-hub" where people who want to sell some of their game tickets they can't use can sell through here.   Its all above board, so we hopped on the net and scored some fantastic tickets for Saturday 2nd August, at a premium price, but - its on the "list" so what the heck!!   Big smiles on David's face after this!

Next thing is flights.   Thanks to our wonderful neighbour and friend Nina, and myself for my internet trawling to get some great prices on fares to Los Angeles with Air New Zealand, then to Nina for organising our internal flights for us.   So here's the schedule:

Sunday 27th July - Overnight at Melbourne airport
Monday 28th July - Melbourne - Los Angeles via Auckland
Monday 28th July - Arrive Los Angeles - stay overnight
Tuesday 29th July - Los Angeles to Washington DC
Friday 1st August - Washington DC to Boston
Monday 4th August - Boston to New York
Saturday 9th August - New York to Las Vegas
Friday 15th August - Las Vegas to Los Angeles
Friday 15th August - Los Angeles to Melbourne
Sunday 17th August - Home

Accommodation still to be sorted.   Except that we have booked our New York hotel staying at - wait for it - the Library Hotel!!!   Couldn't resist it, came across this hotel when surfing the net, here's the link for you to check it out too :

http://www.libraryhotel.com/

Just sounds perfect!!!  Rooms and floors decorated and inspired by the Dewey Decimal System, wine and cheese from 4 - 7 every night, unlimited cappuccino, rooftop balcony where you can have library themed cocktails, and if you let them know your reading preferences then the hotel librarian will arrange for a selection of books to be waiting for you!   Its in a very central location, only 2 blocks from Grand Central Station and 2 blocks from the NY Public Library!!!   So I suppose I can tick this one off on my "list".

That's all for now, will update you followers as we add more information.
